Hilary trained at Loughborough and The Royal Academy Schools.
My work is primarily about light and the energy we see as form. I find
painting is interwoven with gaining self-knowledge and understanding of
others. When I paint a scene I am trying to capture some [impssible]
perfection, a jewel-like quality that is elusive, hidden within. It may
slip out of sight with a change of the light, a cold breeze. Perhaps I
find that magical quality of peace and beauty within, just for a
moment, and wish to capture it in the landscape, give it a permanence.
