I make paintings, wall-hung constructions and drawings. Whilst there is some landscape based work, and the elements of landscape (wood, water, stone) sometimes provide inspiration, my output is largely abstract, focusing on colour, balance and the intrinsic qualities of the materials I’m using. For some years I made constructions from wood and found material from beaches round the UK. I then went through a period of abstract painting, using acrylics, and over the last four years or so have incorporated elements of both the painting and the work with found materials. I also make graphite drawings and gouache paintings. ExhibitionMike is currently exhibiting at Wilf’s Café, Staveley, near Kendal. The exhibition, entitled Night Foundered Skiff, is on the top floor of Wilf's (open 9-5 daily) until the end of March 2012. Contact Mike Barlow
