She enjoys experimenting with new techniques, using natural materials such as linen, hemp, silk wool and cotton, all with their own optical properties. She produces flat textured weaves with modern geometric patterns in delicate and vibrant colours, drawing the eye in gradually so they become a focus for peaceful contemplation. She also produces multi-layered weaves in a myriad of colours and textures depicting falling and running water. With her wall hangings, rugs and three-dimensional weaves Hannah has made a significant contribution in adding new dimensions to this ancient art and her work is indeed a testament to her belief that weaving offers endless possibilities of creating “new forms of construction and visual ingenuity that makes weaving as vital and interesting a contribution to technological and visual culture as it was eight thousand years ago”.
