A Watery Trio for Aging Brides
Three aging brides on a riverside perform invented rituals, building Mandala patterns of river-stones on their own and on each others bodies.
A sensuous and subdued, contemplative atmosphere reveals an underlying layer of intensity and obsession, intimating stoning and transgression as well as sacred acts.
Dwelling Within refers to the Jewish myth of the Shekina and Jewish rituals of the Mikvah. The Mikvah is a purification ritual of submersion in fresh water which in ancient Jewish tradition was performed as part of the preparation for the Sabbath. The Shekina is a symbolic image of the joy and inner peace of the Sabbath, symbolized as a bride; the term Shekina is translated as “Dwelling Within”.
