Sarah Smith’s work is collaboration with the natural world. An important element to the sculptures she creates is the places where the stones are found. There is always a dialogue with the stone, her sculptures both reveal what lies beneath and allows the stone to communicate back into the world. It is important to recognise that the sculptures continue to evolve long after Smith has journeyed with them; the time spent together is but a moment in time. Smith has won a number of awards in the UK and residencies abroad. This has informed her work to develop further into collaboration with other artists using different mediums; recognition of the need to use creativity to express her wider concerns about the natural world. Her work is held in private collections in the UK, abroad and in public offices.
