Susan works in oil paint, graphite, and charcoal using the materiality of these mediums to respond to her environment. Landscapes, gardens or everyday objects all inspire exploration of the complex relationships between the Anthropocene, the natural and the quantum. Everyday sketches become entangled in her paintings. Slowing down to reflect on each image is essential, allowing subtle changes and oscillating layers to emerge. The process of creating each painting is complex, important, and, above all, awesome.
